Racism has always been a matter of debate since conscience has instilled itself in consciousness of human beings. But who first gave the idea of racism? Who started all of this? No one knows.

Ever since our childhood, we have always been asked to consider white as a symbol of peace and love. And black? Needless to mention! It has always been a colour of fear, insecurities and protest. Whenever, we would be watching TV or shows, we would always see an angel clad in white dress and a devil which would always be wearing black. It felt normal back then. But when I look back now and think; the contrast between black and white made us imbibe the fact that “BLACK IS NEGATIVE”. And that was the point when the concept of racism sprouted within us; subconsciously.

But has the world always been inconsiderate to blacks? Doesn’t seem so. We have always remembered Nelson Mandela for his leadership. And how can we forget “I have a dream” by Martin Luther King Jr that still resonates in our ears and gives us goosebumps. Can we ever forget leaders like Barack Obama? Will the history ever forget how Frederick Douglass stood up for women’s right? We don’t judge celebrities like Rihanna, Beyonce, Oprah, Will Smith, Serena Williams, Halle Berry and many such others for their race.

Race remains no longer an issue when one has reached that extreme of power and success. None of the people mentioned above would have to face the same wrath that fell upon George Floyd. Then, what is racism all about? “Racism is just a perspective. Racism won’t be used to judge you if you are a league of your own. But it would be definitely used upon you, especially when you are poor, weak & powerless.”
